Why it’s on the record. On July 1, 2025 Hawley voted YEA on final passage of H.R. 1 (Senate roll call vote 372, 50-50, with VP Vance breaking the tie). The law cut nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid, and CBO projected millions would lose coverage. Afterward Hawley introduced a bill to undo some of the Medicaid provisions he had just voted for.
