Why it’s on the record. On March 6, 2024 McConnell endorsed Trump, the man who had pushed those 'mere allegations', for president: 'It should come as no surprise that as nominee, he will have my support.' (CNN, Mar. 6, 2024). Earlier, on May 28, 2021, he voted against cloture on the bipartisan January 6 commission bill (Senate roll call 218).
