Why it’s on the record. On Dec 1, 2024, Biden granted Hunter Biden a 'full and unconditional' pardon covering any offenses from Jan 1, 2014 through Dec 1, 2024. On June 6, 2024, Biden himself had told ABC's David Muir that he ruled out a pardon.

Asked to confirm that Biden would never pardon or commute the sentence of his son Hunter, the press secretary answered with a flat no. On Nov 7, 2024 she said it again: 'We've been asked that question multiple times. Our answer stands, which is no.'
